A serosurvey for human hydatidosis by the arc 5 double-diffusion test in Chupaca province, Junín, Perú

To determine the frequency of hydatidosis in school children in Chupaca province, Junin department (central Andes from Peru), in September 2000. One hundred and sixty blood samples were taken from health school students with ages between 12 to 19 years old, 89 (55.6%) were male. Sera were tested by the arc 5 double-diffusion (DD5) test. It was detected 11 (6.8%) seropositives cases of hydatidosis, 5 were female. Hydatidosis infection remains a major health problem in Chupaca province, where sheep raising is widely practiced.Downloads
